The following contains photographs of a potentially disturbing nature. Please be assured that no small children were seriously harmed during the taking of these photographs.
Here is HungryMan doing his pre-sledding warm-up, primarily comprised of decapitating today’s snowman.
Once properly stretched, he loaded the family in our car and drove to the hill of his sledding legends.
“Was this your hill when you were little, Daddy”
“Yes, but I think it was bigger back then.”
“What are you doing Daddy?”
“Well little girl, I’m turning this sledding hill up to eleven.”
After a few short runs, HungryMan grew dissatisfied with the smooth flight down the hill. Determined to give Ava the experience that he remembered, HungryMan fortified the sledding hill with a ski jump.
“Whoopeee! Yes. Yes. Yes!”
“Again! We gotta do that again!”
Nate is a firm believer in what doesn’t kill you is fun.
“But Daddy, is it safe?”
“No it’s not safe, it’s dangerous!”
“Hang on Ava!”
“This. Is. Awesome!”
Whoopsie daisies”
“We’re still good.”
Last time I checked “Stop, Drop, and Roll” did not involve snow or MY three-year-old.
“Oh sweetie, did you get some snow in your face?”
It’s kind of like the log ride minus the log and safety features. Apparently HungryMan is looking for a new title, how about DangerMan?

Terrific pictures! I’m glad they had much merriment. Did the mama go sledding too? I’d love to see pictures of her screaming down the hill.
Wow, that is extreme alright.
Flying snow makes for such great photos tho!
You guys got dumped on with snow; it’s flooding here. Where is spring?!
Great photos! My insides are saying, “wheee!” just looking.
HI-larious. My kids would NEVER tolerate that. There would be much fear and trembling. Except probably Isaac.
And, fantastic pics. You have a camera with a nice fast shutter speed, catching all of those beautiful in-air moments
At our house, the line “Oh sweetie, did you get some snow in your face?” is often said with sarcastic humor right after a snowball is thrown right at mom.
You’ve put me in the mood to go outside this afternoon. It’s still snowing at our place. Can you believe that?
Ok, these photos made me laugh out loud – which I really needed! Now, I didn’t laugh at the fact that your little Ava got tossed and tumbled…but the expressions, the action shots, well, the tossing and the tumbling was funny too! And Ava didn’t even look phased. Great photos!
Great photos! You’ve won a giveaway over at my site! Please e-mail me at byhisgraceamy@yahoo.com so that I get all the details of how to choose your prize! Congrats!
That is the X Games, on snow!! Note to self: in addition to not going on a jetski with HungryMan I now will not go sledding with him for fear of danger!!:)
VERY fun!
I love the action shots you got here! What great memories captured on camera!
Looks like you got dumped on with all that snow! Remember last year sliding in the woods at our house? It was about the same time of year, wasn’t it? Ahhh….March. Tough month! It was even snowing here in Paris yesterday, along with rain, wind, and sun. Seems to be an everyday happening here. Easter Sunday is sunny and cold….30 degrees! With possible snow showers today! Come on, April!!!
what fun pictures!!! looks like a lot of fun!!
OK… I was laughing and screaming as Nica, Charlotte and I were looking at these pictures… Unfortunately, I started the pictures by saying, “Look, Charlotte! It’s Nate and Ava!” So as I scroll down to the carnage, I scream, “He’s going to crush her!” Then in the next picture… he does crush her.
I explode with laughter. Charlotte starts bawling her eyes out.
She cried for at least five minutes. Nothing could distract her. She was deeply concerned.
So I went on your blog (at Nica’s brilliant request) and found happy pictures of Ava. “Oh, see? She’s OK. She was having fun with her daddy! See? Fun!”
It sort of worked.
Dang. That was worth it, though. Those are some darn funny pics.
My favorite: “Of course it’s not safe. It’s DANGEROUS!” A lot like crossing the road in Northern Ireland, right?
You captured some great expressions during this intense sledding event. I especially like the one with Ava’s mouth wide open with surprise. It looks like a whole lot of fun was had.
BTW, we had your Tortilla soup and guac the other day. So yummy! It made its place in the recipe box. Thanks.
That would be just like my kids Daddy too !
GAsp- sometimes I just have to look away! But they all end up having fun!
Oh my! Thank you for the early morning laugh!
What GREAT pictures! I’m sure when Ava is a little older she’ll see those pictures and remember the cold sting of snow and the insides of her tummy in the back of the throat.
P.S. Now THAT’s a sledding experience.
