“Ava, please stop kicking. You’re splashing the water on the floor.”
“Mama, I can’t stop kicking.”
“Yes, you can Ava. Stop kicking.”
“But Mom, that’s that way that God made me.”
“He also made you to obey your Mama.”
“But Mom, He made everyone different.”
“Yes He did, but He also told everyone to obey their mamas.”
“Well Mom, you have to love me the way that God made me.”
Two questions:
1. What?
2. And when did she start calling me, “Mom”?

Evy just told me yesterday that she couldn’t stop talking loudly because that’s just the way God made her. As far as the “mom” goes, consider yourself lucky. Henry has called me “mom” mostly from the beginning. He ususally says it while banging on the bedroom door…but hey, that’s just how God made him, right?
This girl, she is something, always making me laugh. You obviously have done a great job teaching her.
You ought to try telling her that God made YOU to have water-free bathroom floors. Oh, and long, uninterrupted nights of sleep. And a back massage every day by a 3-year old and see if her logic works back on her!
Wow, that sounds a LOT like Isaac. Always having a “good” reason!
When he plays too rough with his dino toys or tries to “eat” me because i’m “meat,” he’ll explain his behavior – “That’s how God made dinosaurs, mom. He made them to be vicious meat-eaters!”
Oh that is TOO funny!!! God did make her so very special!!
Oh, I love that story. Seriously, our kids are going through a bossy, “I’m in charge stage.” Henri told me today that he is the boss (after hearing a story in childcare today that Jesus is the boss).
