Oh, you’re here. This is great. I was worried all night that people were going to get lost or that Blogger wouldn’t do its redirect thing or that I set this up wrong, but look you’re here! Yay! I, for one, am so happy that you are here.
Ahh, the badgers–they’ve taken over the blog. They’ve staged a full-on coup. HuberHadley tipped them and Ava guided them. My defenses were down. I knew they were after my pantry and club chair, but my HP? What do Badgers want with an HP? Well, you have your answer now. Top billing–the badgers want top billing.
So this is where we are now. And it would be great if you would type in www.badgersontheloose.com into
your browser the next time you want to come visit. Blogger will only keep redirecting you for so long, and really I don’t want you to get lost.
And if you are one of those insanely nice people who has me on your blogroll or link to me on your blog (for which, by the way, I am so grateful. The fact that you actually come back to read this blog endears you to me, but that you also want other people to come over here–wow, that’s amazing), would you be willing to change the URL from my old blog to my new one. We wouldn’t want to wear out the redirecting folks over at Blogger now, would we?
Now if you were to come to an actual open house like actually at my house, then it would be my fondest pleasure to fill your bellies with something tasty. It’s cold up here in January so it would probably be soup. And I’m married to HungryMan so it would probably be chili.
And since you were so kind to stop over and see our new home, I thought it would be fair that I share my new favorite chili recipe, compliments of my friend Jess’ sister-in-law.
Here’s What You Need:
1 giant Stock Pot, 1 Onion, 1 Green Pepper, 1 pound of Ground Beef, 1 can of Tomato Sauce, 1 can of Tomato Soup, 1 can of Water, 1 can of Diced Tomatoes, 1 can of Pinto Beans, 2 cans of Black Beans, 1 bag of Frozen Corn, 3 tbsp Brown Sugar, 3 tbsp Chili Powder, 1 tbsp Cumin, Salt, Pepper, and your favorite Bbq Sauce, oh and Olive Oil.Here’s What You Do:
Chop the Onions and Green Peppers and saute them in Olive Oil over medium heat about three minutes or until soft. Add the Ground Beef and cook until no longer pink. In the meantime, pull out your can opener and open all those cans. Throw the Beans in a colander and give them a good rinse. Tear open that bag of Frozen Corn and defrost the Corn in the microwave. After the meat is cooked thoroughly, drain the fat, but not all of it. And then start pouring in the rest of the ingredients: Tomatoes, Tomato Sauce, Tomato Soup, can of Water, Beans, thawed Corn, Brown Sugar, Chili Powder, Cumin, Salt, Pepper, and a couple of shakes of your favorite Bbq Sauce.
Pretty soon it should look like this. Let it simmer until you are ready to eat.
Mmmm, doesn’t that smell good.
Now if you were actually coming over, I would set the table, make some cornbread, and Ava would get all dressed up and play hostess.
We’re fancy like that.
Phew this open house thing has worn me out, so I’m off to bed. But feel free to stick around and make yourself comfortable. Or check back later, I still have to tell you about the Great Purge and there is another contest in the works.
See you tomorrow.

What a fun new name! and yummy, I am glad I was able to make it here to your open house.
Love love love the new site!! How do you like WordPress? You’ll have to let me know! Looks great and loved the pics.
VERY cute name
what fun!
Love the new site, Rach!!!
I look forward to reading more about the adventures of Ava, the badgers, and of course the rest of your family as well!! That chili looks good…yes, even at 8:35 in the morning!!!
Thanks for the “open house” – I am always so glad to come to your “house”!!!
Love the new website! Do you have any leftovers?!
The site is adorable, of course, it was done by you! Still, I am very sad to say good-bye to the first blog. I guess I’m just one of those girls who doesn’t like change, and since I don’t understand the difference between a blog and a website, I don’t understand why the change was needed. I’ll be ok, I just need some time to grieve…..
Great job on your new “home!” You have a way of making that badger seem so cute
I’m looking forward to seeing/reading more and I will add you as a link on my blog page, if that’s okay with you!
BTW, that chili looks like it could feed my two “Hungry Men” as well…
Thanks so much for inviting me! I know I’m going to have a fabulous time, even if I do have to change my bookmark list. And of course I love the name! Everything looks beautiful too, especially Ava the pretty pretty princess (although you might want to tell her that her bra strap is showing;-) )!
OOoh, you’re like my own personal Pioneer Woman! (I just very, very recently started reading her, even though you told me of her long ago). I dunno, this just reminds me of her. I love the look of your new blog and especially: The Badgers who want top billing and Ava safe up in her little tree where the Badgers can’t get her. For now. Thanks for inviting me into your home!
Oh, is that supposed to be “little bird” Ava in the tree?? I didn’t notice that until I just read my sister’s comment above. How cute! Now, that little red bird is much cuter than the badger down there!
Hmmm, I do now remember you calling Ava a “songbird” before…
I love the new digs! Very nice header. I’m hungry for chili now, too bad I’m short on ingredients, I’ll have to add them to next week’s list.
Oh, that and Ava means “bird” or “birdlike,” that’s where I was headed with that one. Plus, the little birdy just LOOKED like Ava!
Looks SOOOOOO yummy! We had chili for supper last night, didn’t look like this!
Your lil one is such a cutie pie!
Rach~

I love it. I love your design (did you do it, or Nate?) I love everything. And I LOVE YOU!!!
I’m so sorry to hear about the fever. Was it ever diagnosed?
I thought of you today as I paged through Pottery Barn and Land of nod….some cute birdy bedding reminded me of your little bird.
