Ava and I met Shanel and her friend, Jenny last night for at outdoor concert by the river. Ava was rocking away to the Dixie Chick’s wannabees sporting her Shanel wear. And oh, I wanted a picture. It was at this key moment when I discovered that I had lugged my mammoth camera six blocks through the blazing heat only to find that the battery was still dead from our Fourth of July festivities. Of course, neither Shanel or I remembered that we had cameras on our phones until after we had left the concert and found some crazy balloon guy who made Ava a pink bear. Shanel tipped the guy two bucks, a small price to pay for a balloon that impersonates a bomb a shooting off in the backseat of your car!
So this is the only surviving footage of last nights adventures. Next time I will remember to remove the bear’s ear from Ava’s mouth before shifting into drive.
Thanks for your input on Julia’s pictures! I’m leaning towards #1 myself, but I don’t want the judges to think she can’t smile. Then I think to myself that if she can look that cute without smiling…..
Anyway….I can totally see the farm field trip becoming an annual event and would be thrilled to have you join us – especially since you were the one who got the ball rolling on the whole thing when you asked if anyone knew of a farm you could visit.

Wow, really funny. (And scary…but was Ava scared? The two times this has happened to Kieran is didn’t appear to phase him…of course, the balloon wasn’t pink, either…or shaped like something) How fun to have a big girl’s outing with Shanel!! I love Dixie Chick wannabes! (I mean, I think I do.)
Yeah!! I’m glad we got the one shot – I was actually impressed that Ava didn’t get too upset when the bear’s head popped in her mouth….I just made it back. 29 hours driving in 2 days. Ugh. – shanel
